March BJP

This month I have used larger beads to create my 9cm x 5cm picture of a Kangaroo Paw, backing it with ultrasuede. The 11s I've used for the background are rather too dark as they overshadow the stems. I used 3mm bicones for the stems and rounds and bicones for the flowers. The Kangaroo Paw is the State flower of Western Australia and, has mostly all red or all green flowers.

  1. Sometimes you just don't know how things are going to turn out until you give it a try! It's ok, that the background is dark...I think it looks rather interesting, and since your background beading follows the shape of the stem and flower, it points it out in a subtle way.

  2. I do like the swirl patterns of your backgrounds. I heard of Kangaroo Paw plants quite recently as my husband did a little sketch of one to illustrate a piece of calligraphy he was doing - Rolf Harris's 'Sun Arise'. Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog.

  3. I think your background works - there's a great sense of flow and pattern and the pops of red provide plenty of contrast.
